What’s in a picture?

A picture’s worth a thousand words. Behind gifted eyes, is a vision, a gentle whisper from the heart, an artist’s soul. Like the deafening silence in a vibrant dream,

…every picture tells a story with a different point of view.

The photo was taken at the Columbia Shuttle Flight Launch on April 1981.

Thirty years, three months later, the same father-and-son team attempted to recreate the memorable shot at NASA’s historic Atlantis Space Shuttle launch on July 8, 2011.

The Atlantis is the last active Space Shuttle orbiter, and the July 8 launch is the last flight before NASA shuts down their Shuttle program. As Wikipedia has it: “Atlantis launched successfully for the final time on the 8 July 2011 at 1629 GMT.”

What a moment. (via reddit)
